OFF THE CHAIN!!!!!!!
This was my first time eating Indian food. The taste is definitely one of a kind! Hopefully Tandoor will open near Alabama! Rice-100 Bread-100 Chicken-100 100% satisfaction
Tried several vegetarian and one chicken dish, all really well done. Additionally, the Garlic Naan and Roti were very tasty!
When you think of Valdosta, you might not think of Indian food, but we now have two great Indian restaurants in town. Pretty cool if you ask me!
Tandoor is a little out of the way, behind most of the Remerton businesses and near the Toyota dealership - not a great location. The building looks like it's been slightly restored from an old out-of-business restaurant, a bit like what happened to China Garden. It doesn't look inviting, and the indoor ambience is pretty bad. Nice enough furniture, sure, but with this big open space and nothing to listen to but the TV speaker playing Indian news, it's a little... ghost-house-ish.
That said, the food is great. The cheese naan I ordered was nice and crispy, and the butter chicken was in a curry that was to die for - so flavorful, just tangy enough, just creamy enough, very well-seasoned. This must be in part because the chicken was originally grilled in the tandoor - you can see the reddish tint on the outside that basically signifies that you're in for really tasty tandoor chicken.
Unfortunately, the tasty chicken wasn't expertly cut. There was a piece of cartilage and a bone in mine - they were cooked enough that they didn't cause any damage and ruin the meal, but still off-putting.
Tandoor is rough around the edges and an eyesore for sure, but it's ambitious in what it's doing in the kitchen. Is it a date restaurant? Not at all. Business meeting restaurant? Nope. Is it a place Indian food fans should seek out? Absolutely!
Pat on the Back
The owner was a huge help as we haven't done much ordering of Indian on our own.....extremely friendly and helpful. My husband and I enjoyed first of all the"chips" and different sauces which came to our table immediately. We each ordered a delicious glass of red wine, but after the meal wished we'd of had beer....would have been a much better compliment to the food. We shared an order of lamb khorma, an order of goat masala and an order of garlic naan. I can't decide which of the three was best. I only wish I lived in Valdosta and could frequent this gem of a restaurant which hasn't been open for too long. We went here because i it was walking distance from our hotel and we'd been driving all day. What a delicious meal!
The food was great and the customer service was on point. I will definately return when we come back to Valdosta. We enjoyed the chicken tikka masala, biryani and the butter naan. I highly recommend this place and hope that it does well. The portions were worth the price which I initially thought was slightly high.
I\'ve only posted one review on Yelp and that place closed before I could get back again. Hope that isn\'t an omen \'cause I want this place to stay open.
Nice ambiance, nice bar, attentive service. The food is a cut above what you usually get in the US, somebody\'s mom must be back in the kitchen. Had lamb Rogan Josh and Rasam, both were excellent. This will be a regular stop for me when travelling to and from Florida.
The Food was Delicious
There's average indian cuisine, and then there is tandoor. The owner was exceptionally nice, the food was delicious, and they had two for one draft beers. What more could you ask for? You can definitely tell that they are still getting things up and running, but the food and beer make up for that. Give this place a try if you are looking for a fulfilling meal and cold (cheapest drinks in Valdosta) brews.
